Howlin' Wolf Farm is now offering locally-raised, pastured pork shares for everyone to enjoy! Our pigs are raised humanely in a 100% cage free environment, with unlimited access to both a cozy barn and the great outdoors where a pig can be a pig.
Our pig shares are made to-order, and can be fit to exactly your needs, and we even offer delivery options for our meats! Hog availability is limited, but we also accept pre-orders!
What is a pork share?
A Howlin' Wolf Farm pork share is a mixture of cuts that you'd get from a whole hog that we've raised, from start to finish, as well as processed and packaged, ready for you to cook right away or freeze for later! It's an opportunity to save money on high quality, Lexington-raised, cage free, and pastured pork.
What is in a 1/4 hog share?
Our quarter hog shares include roughly 35 lbs of standard pork cuts such as spare ribs, sausage, pork chops, tenderloin, whole hams or cut ham roasts, and up to 8 lbs of cured bacon (curing services are covered in our all-inclusive charge). Here's a typical return we see on a half hog share:
- 8 to 12 lbs pork chops
- 15 lbs shoulder roasts
- 4 lbs bacon (sliced and chunks, more is included in pre-processed bundles)
- 6 lbs sausage
- 3 lbs spare ribs (less in pre-processed bundles_
What do I need to do to order a pig share?
Our pricing for hog shares covers all the costs associated with raising the pigs to weight, processing into cuts and sausage, bacon curing, bratwurst link processing, and packaging. With this simplified system, you're paying less than $5/lb for these pasture raised meats, which is cheaper than our sausage per pound!
All you need to do after placing your order is let us know when you'd like to pick up your share! Our final pork shares will be a combination of pork chops, boston butts, sausage, bacon, and so on. Since these hogs were pre-processed, there's a big discount, but the shares will not be customizable (everyone who orders will get the same assortment).
Once we have your order, we'll let you know when your hog is scheduled for processing, and when you can pick it up from the farm. Delivery is also available for $25.
